Our Philosophy
At KinderRead Montessori, our philosophy is simple: Give children the space, tools, and guidance to succeed-and they will. We provide a nurturing and structured environment where kids learn self-care, care for others, and care for their environment. Our family atmosphere promotes patience and respect among children of different ages through partner-learning activities and self-imposed rules.
The Montessori Method
Developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, the Montessori Method fundamentally emphasizes and respects the development of a child's own initiative and natural abilities, especially through practical play. Montessori concepts and materials provide space and tools for children to develop at their own pace. Children learn through activities that involve exploration, manipulations, order, repetition, abstraction, and communication.
Typical Daily Schedule
7:00 - 8:30am - Daycare hours-open activity in the Kinder Room or Activity Room
8:30 - 9:00am - Language or craft activity
9:00 - 9:30am - Circle time, calendar, songs, group Spanish or Sign Language
9:30 - 9:45am - Snack
9:45 - 11:00am - Individual reading, writing, math and geography lessons/free choice*
11:00am - 12:00pm - Outside play**
12:00pm -1:00pm - Lunch and free choice*
1:00pm - 3:30pm - Individual reading, writing, math and geography lessons/free choice*/
nap time
3:30pm - 3:45pm - Snack
3:45pm - 6:00pm - Outside play** and/or free choice*
*Free choice is at the discretion of the child. He/she may choose to work on materials in the Montessori room, play with others in the Kinder room or expel some energy in the Activity room.
**Outside play is weather permitting. During summer months, children can enjoy supervised swimming in the school's inground, heated pool.
