Kathy has a long history of teaching in her background.  She attended Oberlin College for her undergraduate work, and spent her junior year at the Mozarteum Akademie in Salzburg, Austria.  She returned to Europe later and studied music in Austria and Germany.  She taught music briefly in the Warren Consolidated Schools in Michigan while living in Ann Arbor.  For two years, she taught voice at Oakland University in Rochester Michigan.  She opened and directed Yamaha Music Schools for children in Michigan, Indiana, and the Minneapolis areas.  She was a student at the University of Michigan, Indiana University and St. Catherine’s University in Minneapolis.  During this time she wrote the Keepsake Musical Language Program, a collection of 40 songs with pre-writing movements, posters, related worksheets, and over 1,000 picture-word cards for ages 2-8.  She returned to school and earned her masters degree in education.  She was the director for a pre-school program for the School of Education at Indiana University.  After obtaining her Montessori Certification she opened a Montessori School and developed KinderRead Montessori - with its unique and accelerated reading program - where she has worked for the last 22 years.
